Astrid will be the heart of The Gables; organising social events, managing the sale of villas, coordinating staff, mediating any concerns, and running the day-to-day activities of the village. Living within cycle-distance, and with an office in the club house, Astrid will be at The Gables daily.
Prior to working with The Gables, Astrid, her husband, Bruce, and their business partners built Copper Crest Village in Pyes Pa from the ground up. From the design stage, right through to building, and welcoming their first residents, Astrid managed the project, and stayed on as the Village Manager for 15 years. She knows the industry from the inside out, with hands-on experience managing the development and coordinating village activities.
The Gables’ fundamental values - integrity, trust, respect, and achievement - have always been integral to the way in which Astrid conducts business. Throughout her time at Copper Crest, Astrid placed a lot of importance on building relationships, not only with the residents and staff, but with their families and the wider community. It was these relationships that created a culture of trust and respect, and allowed them to achieve success.
With 15 years of experience managing Copper Crest Village Estate, The Gables are in more than capable hands with Village Manager, Astrid Martin.
In her spare time...
For almost 30 years, Astrid has been the chairperson of the Life Education Trust, organising much needed fundraisers as well as working in the mobile classrooms as a teacher. Astrid spent years educating students on complex issues such as underage drinking and drug use, relationships, resilience, and mental and physical health. With the help of their beloved mascot, Harold the giraffe, the programme empowers children and teenagers to make healthy life choices. Still an integral part of the directorial team, Astrid has big plans for future fundraisers.
A lifelong advocate for keeping fit and active, Astrid loves to get out on the golf course, fish with husband Bruce, and cycle the local waterfront tracks. You might see their miniature schnauzer, Forrest, around the village, hitching a ride in the basket on Bruce’s bicycle.
